Gorgoneion by DellamorteCo Gorgoneion by DellamorteCo
6"x5" relief

Medusa was a maiden cursed with serpent hair and a terrifying visage that turned the living to stone. Once slain, her head was placed on the goddess Athena's shield, projecting power and guardianship. Staring from beyond the grave, Medusa offers protection and averts evil.

Gorgoneion by ~DellamorteCo Selecting just one work from this artist's gallery for a DD was exceptionally difficult! If you enjoy reliquaries, monstrances, and suchlike that are a bit on the dark and macabre side, you will definitely enjoy this artist's gallery. ( Featured by LabyrinthCreations )

I saw your tentacle candle holder while searching for same on dA's homepage, mainly for inspiring art for a RPG module for publication containing a medusa - and then I see this. Awesome synchronicity there.

Sorry if this is on your front page or described elsewhere (I'm on a deadline, no time to search.) Do you have an Etsy store? I would like to purchase one of your candle holders as a gift. Thanks in advance. Stunning work, BTW.

Thanks! It's often hard to calculate the time, since a lot goes into the design and research for the pieces, and then adjusting the composition in clay.

your sculpts are pure genius. I'm tempted to turn this into a tattoo design and get it tattooed on my neck when I finish my apprenticeship.

Nope o . o Remember, a gorgon is a mythical creature- it's been an unspoken thing that when it dies, the snakes don't die. Kind of like their the container of the magical power that turns living things to stone
